Terms of Service

Last updated: 2026-05-21

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of mento.so and the related Mento applications and services (the “Service”). By using the Service you agree to these Terms. You can reach us at support@mento.so.

1. Eligibility

Mento is open to learners of all ages. If you are under 13, you may use Mento only with the consent and involvement of a parent, legal guardian, or authorized teacher, who agrees to these Terms on your behalf. If you are using Mento on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind it to these Terms.

2. Your account

You are responsible for safeguarding your account credentials and for all activity under your account. Notify us at support@mento.so immediately if you suspect unauthorized use.

3. Your content

You retain ownership of the content you create, upload, or generate with Mento (“Your Content”). You grant Mento a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, process, and display Your Content solely to operate and improve the Service and to provide it to you. If you publish content publicly, the license extends to making that content available to the public as you direct.

You are responsible for Your Content and represent that you have the rights necessary to upload it and use it through Mento.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service to violate any law or infringe anyone's rights.
  • Upload content that is unlawful, harmful, harassing, hateful, or sexually explicit involving minors.
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape at scale, or interfere with the Service or its security.
  • Use the Service to build a competing product, or to train a machine-learning model from Mento outputs without our written permission.
  • Resell or sublicense the Service except as expressly permitted.

5. AI features

Mento offers AI-assisted features including content generation, summarization, transcription, and semantic search. AI output can be inaccurate, incomplete, or out of date. You are responsible for reviewing AI output before relying on it, especially for medical, legal, financial, or safety-critical purposes.

We do not use your content, prompts, or AI output to train AI models, and we contractually require our AI providers not to train their models on your data. Mento does not claim ownership of AI-generated output produced from your prompts; output may be similar or identical to output produced for other users, and you should not assume exclusivity.

6. Subscriptions, billing, and refunds

Paid plans renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless cancelled before the renewal date. Fees are billed via Stripe in the currency shown at checkout, plus any applicable taxes.

Cancellation. You can cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings. Cancellation stops future renewals; your access continues through the end of the current billing period.

Refunds. First-time subscribers may request a full refund within 14 days of the initial purchase by emailing support@mento.so. After 14 days, fees for the current billing period and any renewals are non-refundable, and we do not pro-rate refunds for unused time. We may grant refunds outside this policy at our discretion. Nothing in this section limits any mandatory consumer rights you have under applicable law.

AI features may be subject to usage limits or budgets. We may adjust these limits with reasonable notice.

7. Cancellation and termination

You can cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings. We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, or if your account creates legal or security risk for us or other users. On termination, we will delete or anonymize your content in accordance with the retention period in our Privacy Policy.

8. Third-party services

The Service integrates with third-party providers (for example OpenAI, Stripe, Google, Apple, Resend, and AWS). Your use of those features may also be subject to those providers' terms.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, or that any AI output will be accurate.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Mento and its affiliates will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim and (b) USD 100. This limitation does not apply to liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold Mento harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of Your Content, your use of the Service, or your violation of these Terms.

12. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of Mexico, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. The competent courts located in Mexico City will have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service, except where mandatory consumer-protection laws give consumers the right to bring proceedings in another forum.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes we will give you reasonable notice (for example via email or in-app banner). Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
